In the evening, Saturday, September 11th, 1 Thomas Fèrinor, Baker King Charles II, went to sleep, not extinguishing the fire in one of its ovens. Some time later, after 1:00 in Sunday morning, a spark from the smoldering ugolki ignited the straw on the floor of the bakery. The fire quickly engulfed the House in Pudding Lane. Neighbors tried to extinguish the fire, but the flames were strong. The fire began to spread. In 4:00 awakened the Mayor of London, Sir Thomas Bluduorta. He advised to destroy the neighboring buildings, but the Mayor refused to give the order. He has paid dearly for this decision. In the early morning, three hundred houses were on fire.Over the next three days and nights, the fire raged uncontrollably. However, only in the evening Wednesday, 5 September, when strong winds finally subsided, the fire was taken under control. When the fire was completely extinguished at Thursday, September 30th, 6 five-sixths of the city centre was destroyed. Surprisingly, however, less than ten people died in a fire!If you visit London today, you can see the high column-named monument-dedicated to the Great fire.
