Международный День Йоги был установлен Генеральной Ассамблеей ООН в 2014-м году.



Премьер-министр Индии Нарендра Моди обратился к ООН с предложением отмечать 21 июня Международный День Йоги, так как это самый длинный день в году в Северном полушарии и имеет особое значение во многих частях мира.



Внесённая Индией резолюция по празднованию Международного Дня Йоги была поддержана всеми 177 государствами, представленными на Генеральной Ассамблее ООН.

На высоком уровне было признано, что йога воплощает целостный подход к здоровью и благополучию.



Международный День Йоги ежегодно отмечается 21 июня, начиная с 2015 года.



21 июня 2015 года всё мировое сообщество любителей и профессионалов йоги отметило I Международный День Йоги. В России на праздник собрались более 45 000 человек.



В этом году II Международный День Йоги состоится 19 июня 2016 в выходной день.

В Москве основное мероприятие пройдет на Пушкинской набережной в парке Горького.



Одновременно II Международный День Йоги отметят более 50 регионов РФ.
