Памятник собаке в Иркутске установлен на территории квартала «Иркутская слобода» (130-ый квартал) летом 2014 года. Он небольшой, посвящен верным четвероногим друзьям человека. О скульптуре говорят: «Не лает, не кусает, а город украшает». Фигура собаки породы вельш-корги пемброк символизирует любовь к лучшему другу человека. Автором композиции стал иркутский скульптор Илья Ставский. Все эскизы он рисовал по фото из Интернета, а породу выбрал случайно, хотя собаки вельш-корги пемброк пользуются успехом у иркутских собаководов.

Памятник собаке весит 70 кг, размер – менее метра. Объект отлили в подмосковном Жуковском, причем выполнена скульптурная композиция за счет средств частного инвестора и застрахована. Добродушный пес редкой породы пемброк вельш-корги уже обзавелся кличкой. Его назвали Ричи.

Памятник собаке в Иркутске связан с легендой, что эту собачью породу подарили людям феи. И если почесать такого пса за ухом и загадать желание, то оно обязательно сбудется.
