Флаг Северной Ирландии в настоящее время официально представлен флагом Великобритании. В 1924 году правительство Великобритании даровало правительству Северной Ирландии знамя Ольстера, официально использовавшееся в 1953—1972. Флаг состоял из красного креста Св. Георгия (флаг Англии) с наложенной на него шестиконечной (по числу графств) звездой, с изображениями короны и «красной руки» (исторический символ Ольстера).
Изображение красной руки знаменует связанность Ольстера с Северной Ирландией.

Flag of Northern Ireland is now officially represented the UK flag. In 1924, the British government granted the Government of Northern Ireland Ulster banner,officially used in 1953-1972. The flag consisted of a red cross of St George (England flag) overlaid with the six-pointed (by number of counties) starwith images of the corona and the "red hands" (historical symbol of Ulster).
