Эрвин Биннер: Моя тема — роль биопластиков в системе управления отходами. Являются ли биоразлагаемые пластики решением для каких-либо современных проблем, связанных с отходами? Я считаю, что нет. Проблема, связанная с любыми пластиками, в том числе биоразлагаемыми, заключается в том, что на их производство тратится очень много энергии, и при компостировании биоразлагаемых пластиков мы эту энергию теряем. Получается, что их нужно перерабатывать. Тогда возникает общая проблема любых пластиков любых видов, потому что они различны: каждый отличается по составу и каждый требует своей технологии переработки.
