Трилистник – неофициальная старинная народная национальная эмблема Северной Ирландии. Есть легенда о том, что когда-то Св. Патрик с помощью него убедил ирландцев в том, что триединый бог лучше, чем множество разрозненных языческих идолов. Патрик сорвал лист клевера и пояснил, что существуют бог-отец, бог-сын и бог-святой дух, но они едины, как три листка на одном ростке. С тех пор трилистник прочно укрепился как государственный символ ирландцев.
